It has been formally announced that the European UAV Systems Centre (EuroUSC), has been awarded the contract from the Welsh Development Agency to manage, as it told uavworld.com, ‘the UK’s first UAV flying demonstration outside a military danger area’.
The demonstration is to be held at ParcAberporth, West Wales, on the 13 July 2004 immediately before Shephard’s UV2004 conference and exhibition (14-16 July 2004) in London. “This will be the first event of its kind in the UK and is being seen as an important step in the development of UAVs for commercial and military use,” commented Andre Clot, director of EuroUSC.
Operators are being invited to submit applications for inclusion in the demonstration and should contact EuroUSC, on tel +44 1895 462064, for more information or email UAV2004@eurousc.org for an application form. Application closing date is 30 April 2004.
“This contract was a validation of EuroUSC’s concept of creating a Centre of Excellence for the future development of the UAV industry in Europe, particularly with an eye to commercial use, based on an offering of key skills and experience which can be used synergistically by UAV companies,” commented Clot.
The European UAV Systems Centre (EuroUSC) was launched in Paris at Shepard’s UV 2003 conference. Its aims are to provide a centre of excellence where companies can ‘cluster’ to fast track the development of their UAV Systems.
