A small unmanned air vehicle is to be developed at the University of Bristol (UK) in the form of a technology demonstrator. The project is being led by the Department of Aerospace Engineering and the proposed design will provide for VTOL operation ‘with efficient cruise performance and thus a high degree of mission flexibility”, the university told www.uavworld.com. Primarily a technology demonstrator for compounded rotorcraft and all electric aircraft, the design will also provide a number of opportunities to demonstrate the use of ‘smart’ structures and control systems.
